About Me

I am a consultant that specialises in the sweet spot where marketing, technology and business collide. What does that mean? It means I help you clarify where you are in your business, decide where you want to grow your business and use a combination of technology and marketing know how to help you get your message out there and serve your clients better.

The majority of the work I do for clients is a combination of web development, branding and electronic marketing. I have 5 years web development experience and a post-graduate qualification in marketing and run my own business just like you, so I understand that your website or marketing plan is more than pretty pictures; it is a workhorse for your business.

The way I do business is an extension of who I am. Honest, thorough, innovative and awesome.

Honest: I do business the old fashioned way, I look you in they eye, say what I mean and mean what I say. I sleep well at night.

Thorough: Your business is multifaceted. I find the best results come when everything is pulling in the same direction. I want to help you make sure your product fits your clients and you message is consistent on the web, in how you answer the phone and what your brochures say.

Innovative: I want to help you keep up with the constantly changing information economy. I want to leverage for you the latest in technology if it fits with your business. Innovation for the sake of being trendy though, is an expensive exercise in vanity (and may alienate your clients). An innovative use for an existing asset may be a better option. I’ll help you make that call.

Awesome: Ok, so it may not be a reflection of me, but how I would like to be. I want to exceed your expectations and wow you with my insight and work. I want you to be so happy you refer your friends and colleagues to me, confident that I can help them too.

Every business is unique and it is those idiosyncrasies that make businesses memorable. In my work I help small to medium businesses use technology leverage their uniqueness and serve their customers better so they come back again and again (hopefully with friends).

Clients come to me for one of 2 reasons; to hire me as a consultant, or to commission me to complete specific projects (like a website, an application or a program). For either style of working relationship to be most fruitful I need to know about your business and where you want to take it. For that reason every client who comes to me gets given my Fact Find and a free initial consultation. I guarantee each client that they will take at least one profitable idea away from this chat, obligation free.

From there, those who choose to become consulting clients get a comprehensive “where to from here” report ($99), detailing our discussions, my recommendations and any applicable resources. They can also choose to hire me in an ongoing relationship.

Those who choose to become development clients will get a quote, outlining the options that will best suit the project and the fee breakdown for development.

I respect and appreciate great Graphic Design. Graphic design is not my strongest skill set. In situations where the design quality is of supreme importance or beyond my expertise I outsource and project manage the design creation.

How Consulting Works

First I get to know your business. Before a single idea is formed, before a single keystroke is made, before a single line of code is written I need a coffee. We sit down together, at your office or a cafe, and discuss your business. What does it look like now? How do you want it to look? What are your goals for the medium term? Who is your target market? Who are your clients? Where are the gaps in your business? What is getting in the way of you getting your message out to the world?

Next we collaborate.The initial discussion (there will be many) puts us both on the same page. From there we each bring our skills and knowledge to the table. You, with your intricate knowledge of your business and your goals, are an invaluable part of the process. To your knowledge we add my skill set and where necessary other professionals to propel you from where you are to where you want to be.

The solution/s is never an off the shelf, cookie cutter process. No two businesses are alike. Every business is unique and that uniqueness is memorable. Memorable is what we want to enhance and duplicate, so every customer remembers you clearly enough to come back again and again, ideally with some friends. Getting it just right takes time. You can’t rush art. Budget around 3 months for the process from end to end. You will have something to show for it well before then (a website perhaps or a marketing campaign), but to delight you with our efforts takes research, hard work and tweaks.

Because I work so closely with my clients, I only take on clients who I feel I can have a productive professional relationship with. In the unlikely case that we aren’t a good match I will absolutely refer you to a professional I trust that I think can help you reach your goals. By the same token this means, you have to feel good about working with me too. In our first discussion, pick my brain, ask me for my opinion, ask me for possible solutions. Try me out.
